About Us
BJ Health is an independent health information website. We publish clear, plain-language guides on common medical conditions for readers in India, written for the person who has just left a clinic with a diagnosis and a dozen unanswered questions.
Why we exist
Health information online tends to fall into two groups: material written for doctors, which most people cannot use, and material written to sell something, which most people should not trust.
We aim for the space between. We explain what a condition is, what the test results mean, which treatments have good evidence, which popular ones do not, and at what point an article stops being useful and a doctor becomes necessary.
What we cover
- Heart and blood pressure
- Diabetes and thyroid
- Kidney and liver
- Infections and fever
- Nutrition and weight
- Child health
- Eye, ear and dental
- Everyday wellness
How we write
Every article is written for a reader without medical training. We avoid jargon where plain words will do, and define it where it cannot be avoided.
We describe treatments according to what the evidence supports, and we say so plainly when the evidence is weak or mixed. We name widely used remedies that do not work, because saving someone money and preventing a delayed diagnosis is as useful as recommending something.
We write for Indian conditions where it matters: Indian BMI and waist thresholds, the local pattern of fevers, the national immunisation schedule, iodine and B12 status in vegetarian diets, and the realities of what is available and affordable here.
Every article that touches on diagnosis or treatment ends by pointing back to a qualified clinician, because no general article can account for your history, your medications and your test results.
What we are not
We are not a clinic. We do not diagnose, we do not prescribe, and we do not give personal medical advice by email or in comments. We are not a substitute for a consultation with a doctor who can examine you.
